Hi, I’m Meghan, founder & host of House of Poets.

Before I wrote my first poem, I was overwhelmed by my emotions, anxiously seeking validation beyond myself and was disconnected from what I deeply valued in life.

Like many of us, I dimmed my light and muffled my truth to feel like I had a place in the world, but that left me exhausted and feeling doomed to the limiting box of identity that was placed on me.

But when I picked up my pen for the first time?

I was home.

It was like I unlocked the door to this fire that was burning me and when I let it out, shaping it into a poem…

it transformed into a comforting thing that kept me warm and nurtured. To my surprise, the things I thought stripped me of value and added weight to my freedom, were the source of my inner riches, slowly transforming my limitations into pathways to liberation.

Poetry has shown me how to be raw in my self expression, learning to celebrate the full contrast of who I am, because even the most challenging elements of life could become the most beautiful poems and that unfolded a world of wisdom, self acceptance and healing, I never knew was available to me.

As I continue to tap into my relationship to creative and self expression, I begin to see that it’s not just about standard art… it translates into the art of life, creating my experiences, marvelling at my wholeness, bringing love where fear is familiar.

  • You are not obligated to. However we’d love to support you, in your own time, to feel comfortable doing so! As it’s a really special experience to hear how others relate and feel seen by your story!

  • No, while poetry is a main focus, our other areas of focus are self expression, journalling and general creativity.
